Rose Vanilla and Fougère incense 10 Grams

This Rose, Vanilla and Fougère incense is absolutely delicious. It is love for love's sake. It is Paris, when the cherry trees blossom. It is swans floating on the Danube. It is Valentine's Day for your nose.

The scent begins by unfurling a gentle rose scent-which is more of a wild rose than a contrived rose found in most incenses. Then the vanilla slides in to support the rose, which has tiptoed up to your nose. Then the Fougère peeks into the scent, creating a green base, to anchor the whole experience to the earth. Without the Fougère the incense would be two-dimensional and just another rose incense. With the Fougere, it is something of a wonder, and timeless.

When I lived in Paris, I would smell rose and Fougère in Galeries Lafayette on a Saturday morning. Mixed with the aroma of black tea and warm bread, this was a love song made for us all. As soon as I smelled this incense, my mouth watered.

If you are wondering what Fougère is, it is an old perfumery recipe from France, created using Lavender, Fern, Oakmoss and Coumarin, a compound derived from the Tonka Bean, with a scent close to new mown hay. It was created in the 1800s and has been reimagined and used in perfumery ever since.

This incense comes in bundles of 10 sticks. One stick burns approximately one hour.
